    When traveling in rural New Zealand many years ago I saw a sign asking visitors to remove their gumboots (wellingtons) before entering.

    I also once worked for a hospital that had a sign at its Emergency Department entrance requesting that people leave their knives and machetes with security upon entering. Sad, but true…….
