The works, which were originally referred to as Dr. Eliot’s Five Foot Shelf, are a time capsule into the thinking of the time and include literature, philosophy, and the sciences.
Mind you, this list was assembled in 1909, so you’re not going to find any Harry Potter, but if you are looking for a suggested reading on classics in literature, science, and philosophy, this is a good place to start. And, because free.
